Back to Earth Ingredient Feature - Olive

You may be surprised that at Back to Earth Olive Oil is an important ingredient in many of our products. Good organic, olive products have amazing benefits on so many levels. The organic olive oil used in Back to Earth products is 100% cold pressed and extra virgin with an exceptionally rich color and flavor.

The olive is a small evergreen tree native to Mediterranean regions, but naturalized to climates as varied as those of Australia, California, and Texas. The well-known green to blue-black fruit of this tree yields a useful, edible oil. Both the oil and the dried green-grayish colored leaves are used in herbal medicine and contains many potentially bioactive compounds that have antioxidant, antihypertensive, antiatherogenic, anti-inflammatory, hypocholesterolemic and hypoglycemic properties — similar to olive oil.

More and more studies are proving that olive leaf is a powerful medicinal tool; olive leaf benefits include cardiovascular and immune system support, an increase in energy and promoting healthy blood pressure. Olive leaf is traditionally used as a tea, it is available as a powder or in a supplement form too and studies show it has great success in the treatment of colds and flu.

If you google Olive Oil you will find countless health articles promoting it's benefits and even how many drink it daily in small doses. The evidence from studies is fascinating and easily found. These are some of the more mainstream findings:

    • Olive Oil Is Rich in Healthy Monounsaturated Fats;
    • Olive Oil Contains Large Amounts of Antioxidants;
    • Olive Oil Has Strong Anti-Inflammatory Properties;
    • Olive Oil May Help Prevent Strokes;
    • Olive Oil Is Protective Against Heart Disease.

At Back To Earth we choose olive oil as a base in many of our products because of it's great conditioning effect and because of it's stable nature. It makes a perfect carrier oil too. You will find it in our Sweet Pea Baby Balm, which is wonderful for soothing skin issues for the whole family. The Calendula Eye Makup Remover Oilnaturally and gently removes eye makeup leaving your skin moisturized. Arnica oil is a natural anti-inflammatory herb that stimulates the flow of white blood cells that process congested blood to help dispense trapped fluid from joint musces and bruised tissue. Our all natural and organic Arnica Herbal Oil is solar infused using locally harvested Arnica flowers, organic Olive and Vitamin E oils. It soothes and heals the skin and muscles, use immediately after strenuous exertion on bruises, scars or sprains. Olive oil is also in every one of our fifteen natural bar soaps varieties.

If you are wanting to try olive leaf we are also stocking a very high grade of dried olive leaf powder by the weight, available only in the Lavington Store. Pop by or call us to place an order.

Since extra virgin olive oil assists in protecting your skin from the signs of aging, the prevention and/or reduced impact of so many diseases – including certain cancers – it’s no exaggeration to say it may even help you look and live longer. Not bad for something that’s also delicious to use in so many recipes.
